It would have been so easy to have that wetsuit come down her legs a bit like previous ones, and have the cheek action on the unlockable bathing suit, but this is the only level in the game where you cant choose her outfit when playing the level. And if you put it above her and continue, it goes back down. You know how lara splits her legs a lot when freeclimbing? Yeah the camera swivels beneath her and zooms a little if you dont stop it. The first when the kraken is introduced, and the second when youre freeclimbing the sinking ship. And they include two camera sequences that firce you to look at her exposed cheeks. Its cut so high you can practically see it disappear into her rectum when she climbs. They even got rid of the stockings she was supposed to wear with that dress so she would have even less on. She was supposed to change to a catsuit in the elevator as well, but that was cut and the outfit she would have chosen to fit her adventure was relegated to an unlockable you can only use after running around on roofs barefoot an rags looking at her panties. Everyone else there has long cocktail dresses on. The japan dress (originally a long classy dress with a split up the side, a collared neck and open back which one would wear to a tokyo party) was changed into something you see young celebrities wear packed with boob tape. Toby left during TR2's development because Eidos took his character and started marketing her on sex appeal, i dont understand how when he came back to the franchise we got to play Lara wearing a bikini for the first time. Lara in the games was always dressed properly for the adventure she was undertaking and classy when she needed to be (see the opera dress, with splits up the sides so she can move and a garter for storage, while still looking formal) I would like to point out that the Classic Renders are inadmissible as they were not done by Core. The fact that she is nicely built just MAKES it suggestive, naturally.Ĭore Lara's animations are crude by comparison, so you can't give Core Lara the moral high ground just because of that, and because she has less polygons. I think her animations in that regard are realistic, and not deliberately suggestive. Suggestive walking - Lara has some good hips, and she walks like a woman. That's like saying liquor stores and bars cause drunk driving accidents - not gonna fly. Well, with the free camera look, there is the possibility of ogling. Now, please, don't you all go edgy on me! But when you give the players the tools and animations to make her nothing more than a sight, you're objectifying her. Lara Croft can be sexy, and there's nothing wrong with it. The point is that I don't care about the renders of neither Classic or LAU Lara, because most of them never showed any canon stuff or an accurate description of what you're bound to find in-game. There's probably more things, but I'm too tired to remember. Yes, I know you have to play the level first, but that's not the point xD In other words, she is the one being demanded, like if she were a doll, and any player could choose for her to wear something ridiculous like the Japan dress in the middle of Nepal. With this new feature, this illusion is lost, and Lara has no volition in what she wears. Classic levels demanded you to play a level with a certain outfit to make the illusion that it was what Lara chosed to wear. There's also the fact that you could choose her outfit when replaying a level. Then, there are animations which show certain sex appeal which I find unnecessary, like her suggestive walking (which wasn't suggestive in former games at all), or her standing animation of touching her butt to take the dust off. You could say there was no way around that, but there are games which offer a free camera without exploiting things like panty/butt/boobs shots, Reboot being one of them. Since Legend introduces the free camera movement, players can now see Lara's front, and so can easily move the camera down to see how big her breasts are or move the camera up to see the inside of her shirt. The problem is how the player chooses to see that cleavage. That's not a problem by itself, considering Lara has shown cleavage ever since TR4. You can say her renders show her strength, her cover only shows her face and the title covers her breasts, and I agree for the most part, but I'm more interested on the gameplay aspect.įirst, there's the cleavage in most outfits. The reason why I find LAU Lara more sexualized than her previous incarnation is not only because of her outfits, but also because of how they are presented.
